Clock Tuner for AMD Ryzen CTR

ClockTuner is an overclocking utility forAMD Ryzenthat allows you to fine-tune and maximize the overclocking potential ofAMD Ryzen processors. All Ryzen 3000 and Ryzen 5000 processor models (Zen 2 and Zen 3) are supported.

If you are wondering how to achieve the best overclocking forAMD Ryzenthen this utility is for you. This will automate many testing tasks to achieve the best overclocking ofRyzeneven without much overclocking experience.

Instructions for using Clock Tuner

After launching ClockTuner for Ryzen, the program greets the user with information that any manipulations (overclocking or reducing voltage) can damage the processor or motherboard.
The main and working tab is called MAIN, it contains all the information about the processor, controls and statistics.

The top part informs the user about the number ofCCXs, the cores in them, the frequency of each core (3), theCCDtemperature (1) and theCPPClabels (2 ). Let me remind you that theCPPCmarks are a kind of indicator of the quality of the cores. C01 is the serial number of the core.

Next is an area with information about the current energy parameters of the processor (PPT, EDC, TDC, CPU VID Voltage and < strong>CPU SVI2 Voltage). Monitoring of these parameters, as well as the protection system, are always active.

Currently there is a bug that does not allow the correct EDC value to be displayed in a number of scenarios. At a certain value it simply goes off scale. This is due to an error in the microcode, that is, I cannot fix it.

The Settings group contains all settings. Let’s talk about them in a little more detail.

Cycle time – determines the time of stress testing for each cycle. The longer the cycle lasts, the more accurate the result of theCTRwork will be.

CCX delta is the condition for completing the overclocking or undervolting algorithm. Is the value of the frequency difference between the bestCCXand the worstCCX. This value allows you to equalize the energy load between allCCXs. Each processor class (Ryzen 5,7,9etc.) has an individual meaning. When you launch it for the first time,CTRwill automatically suggest the best option. The user can also adjust this value for his own experiments.

Recommended values:

  • Ryzen 5: 25 MHz;
  • Ryzen 7: 25 MHz;
  • Ryzen 9: 150-175 MHz for processors with the suffix X and 100-150 for processors with the suffix XT;
  • Ryzen Threadripper: 75–100 MHz.

Testing mode – determines the level of load that CCX receives during operation of CTR. For most users, theAVX Lightmode will be optimal. Don’t be intimidated by the word “AVX” in the name. Specially designedAVXpresets combine low processor temperatures and high diagnostic efficiency for the slightest CCX instability during overclocking or undervolting.

Initial frequency smart offset is a technology that saves time when overclocking or undervolting. The mechanism of operation is the intelligent shift of “Reference frequency” relative to the CPPC marks. Only supported by theRyzen 9 3900X,Ryzen 9 3900XT,Ryzen 9 3950X,Ryzen Threadripper 3960Xand Ryzen Threadripper 3970X.

Reference frequency – the base value of the frequency from which the first step of acceleration or undervolting will begin. The value must always be a multiple of 25, i.e. 4100, 4125 and so on.

Max frequency – the maximum frequency value upon reaching which any of the CCX will complete the overclocking or undervolting process. The value must always be a multiple of 25, i.e. 4100, 4125 and so on.

Reference voltage – the voltage value at which overvoltage or undervolting will be carried out. Step 6 mV. The security system automatically adjusts this value so that the processor always receives only the correct commands.

I would like to draw the attention of owners of processors Ryzen 5 3600XT, Ryzen 7 3800XT and Ryzen 9 3900XT that voltages above 1250 mV may causeBSODduringCTRoperation. Temporarily I do not recommend exceeding this value.

Polling period – time for polling sensors (temperature, voltage, frequency, etc.). This value also determines the reaction speed of the protection systemCTR. The protection system operates from the moment the program is launched until its completion. Its purpose is to monitor all processes that occur during the operation of CTRand, if something happens, automatically stop and advise the user.

Max temperature – temperature value at which the protection system will stop all processes that occur in CTR.

Max PPT, Max EDC, Max TDC – consumption and current values, which also relate to the protection system settings. When one of the values is reached, allCTRprocesses will be stopped. Please note that these values are notPBOs and do not affect system performance.

CB20 testing is a toggle that allows the user to enable or disable the Cinebench R20 test. This test is intended only to evaluate overclocking or undervolting.

To tray – activation allows you to minimize the CTR window to tray.

Autoload profile with OS – automatic loading of an overclocking or undervolting profile when the operating system starts. It can only be activated after the user has saved the profile. Please note that the user will be prompted to create a profile only after the overclocking/undervolting process is completed.
